Welcome to a supplemental Critical Care Reviews Newsletter, bringing you the major research studies presented and subsequently published at the 2016 ESICM Hot Topics Sessions over the past few days. There have been multiple studies presented, but not all have been published. Many were pre-published by Intensive Care Medicine and included in last week's newsletter

Of note, three of the speakers presenting during these sessions will be speaking at the Critical Care Reviews Meeting next January - Prof Anthony Gordon, Prof Gonzalo Hernandez and Dr Peter Hjortrup. We also have Prof Greet Van den Berghe, chief investigator of the PEPaNIC trial published earlier this year, Prof Peter Hutchinson chief investigator of RESCUEicp and Prof Mervyn Singer, lead for the new sepsis definition, Sepsis 3.0. It doesn't end there - Prof John Myburgh will address research methodology, while Prof Paul Marik will inform us of the cure for sepsis. Prof Donat Spahn, the lead author on the latest European Trauma Guideline, completes the speaker line up with the John Hinds Trauma Lecture.

If you like this newsletter containing the latest research in critical care, then you'll love the next Critical Care Reviews Meeting 2017 where you'll have a chance to discuss these trials with their investigators.
